2. Overview:

Happy-Days Foundation (HDFN) is an economic and enterprise development organisation based in Ebonyi state of Nigeria. HDDFN is a People Empowerment and development Projects designed to deliver to the people information about emerging issues and developments within the state, Nigeria and the wider society at large through awareness, orientation and advocacy. It is also our core aim to enhance relevant education and empowerment of the people, including the reinforcement of the spirit of common purpose as essential element of community power and prosperity.

HDFN will promote the exchange of ideas, programmes, and services between different cultures and groups freely and, move beyond mere rhetoric of politics and promises of equal opportunities and respect for differences to the transformation of our public space, institutions and the civic culture to involve everyone and, building mutual ownership in all that guarantees human freedom and respect through works and results.

Many jurisdictions of the world has identified and recognised that an active Community and Voluntary sector contributes to a democratic, pluralist society as it provides opportunities for the development of decentralised and participative structures. It also fosters a climate in which the quality of life can be enhanced for all.
It is an ingredient that the south - south nations Nigeria specifically, desperately need to harness through HDFN. It is undoubtedly an important requirement for overall economic and social development of a civil society that our nation aspires to attain.

Projects such as Happy-Days are a prerequisite as Nigeria struggles to establish civil society that will give voice and hope to the vulnerable and less fortunate members of our society. As always common sense can help on how diverse or homogeneous communities can co-operate in harmony instead of leading parallel or antagonistic lives that polarise us.

Information, education and poverty eradication are the core remit of the project and, its main agents will be its membership and volunteers with a steering committees reporting to the board.
Our services and operations will coordinated from the One-Stop-Shop Enterprise Centre in the locations where we can be reached by the members of the public and service clients of the foundation.

3. Mission, Vision and Values:

Our Vision: - To achieve a level of achievement, participation and self-fulfilment among people, that would change their outlook to life with hope and reason to live life to maximum in the state.

Our Mission: - To continue education and information provision, anti-poverty measures, giving hope and support to the less privileged underlined by human rights and dignity.

Our Values: - Being guided by the standard principles and practice of community development HDFN holds of value - Respect and Dignity; Equality; Participation and Empowerment in all we do.

4. Our Services:

  1. The One-Stop-Shop Enterprise Centre will be organizes training for people on the creation and management of micro-financing and farming activities, including cooperatives schemes.
  2. Information provision on rights, responsibilities and community participation. A good piece of work here is advise to migrants going abroad from Nigeria - legal issues, visas and residency, studying, job market, social and asylum issues.
  3. Training and development for youths, including assistance in ‘Mini-Companies’ initiatives pilot (Ireland examples) in collaboration with schools, promoting apprenticeships with businesses
  4. Awareness and leadership schemes – examples from Irish experience and exchange of knowledge with Irish expatriates.
  5. To play a vital role for the Diaspora involvement in the state tangible development, and, as a broker for potential foreign investors to the state.
  6. HDFN will collaborate with local, state and international agencies, including colleges to carry out researches and promote best practice in democratic processes in the Nigeria
